2Pac had roots in both the East Coast and West Coast.  According to Khujo of Goodie Mob, he almost joined a Southern group.

Goodie Mob member T-Mo knew Pac through Pac's sister.  Pac met the whole crew at the notorious Suge Knight Source Awards and they all hit it off.  Goodie Mobb were the first to hear Pac's legendary diss track "Hit Em Up." As Khugo explained on Vlad TV, then Pac almost joined the group. [Jump to 10 minutes.]

"I was thinking, 'Is Tupac finna be in Goodie Mob?' That sh*t gon' be hard.  He had reached out to us because he really liked the type of vibe we was on ... for some reason, I guess he felt a type of brotherhood like he felt with the Outlawz and just kinda wanted to join forces with us.  I just thought that sh*t was going to be so historical.  For him to join forces with us.  Hear him on the same song with us, man. The tones. The lyrical content. His fans. Goodie Mobs fans. I thought that was going to be nice," Khugo explained.
