Dr. Dre and Eminem have had one of the most fruitful relationships in music history.
As they both describe in the new documentary The Defiant Ones, it got off to a terrific start.

Dre remembers Eminem first coming into his home studio wearing all yellow.
Eminem remembers being in awe of Dre.
“I’m looking at Dre like, ‘Dude I see you on TV like all the time. You one of my biggest influences ever in life,'” Eminem remember.Next Dre put some music on, and they immediately bonded forever.
“I had a studio in my house at the time, and I went and I put some samples together and did a couple of things in the drum machine and I did a lot of recording," Dre explained. "I was like ‘Man, listen. I put this sample together. Tell me if you like it.’The sample was the instantly recognizable beginning of the Eminem smash hit 'My Name Is.'
Within two or three seconds, Shady was rapping "Hi! My name is…my name is…"
That was all Dre had to hear.
"I'm Like, ‘Yo! Stop.’ Shit’s hot. That’s what happened our first day in the first few minutes of us being in the studio.”
