Diddy announced that he was interested in buying the Carolina Panthers when owner Jerry Richardson put the team up for sale a few months ago. The 81-year old decided it was time to sell after he was accused of racism and sexual harassment.

Not long after that, North Carolina native Steph Curry said he also wanted to purchase the team and had started doing research on how he'd get that done.

For a while, it looked like it might work out for Puff and Steph, as the duo were minority partners on billionaire Michael Rubin's bid for the team.

However, according to ESPN, Diddy and Steph may no longer be in the running since Rubin just dropped out of the bidding.  The price for the Panthers has been set at a record-breaking $2.5 billion. That would be the most ever for an American sports franchise and a price Rubin believes is too high.

The billionaire could jump back in if the price came down, so who knows if Diddy and Steph are truly out for good.
