Cardi B Says People Put 'Crazy Expectations' On Female Rappers

Cardi B has spoken a lot about the pressure she feels to maintain success since songs like "Bodak Yellow," "WAP" and "Up" have practically lived on the Billboard charts.

Earlier this month, the Bronx spitter admitted to Apple Music's Zane Lowe that people criticizing her music has kept her from dropping a second album.

Cardi has admitted again to feeling pressure, this time during a chat with Mariah Carey for Interview magazine. The 28-year-old says the expectations that people put on female rappers are unrealistic and it bothers her.

"People always have crazy expectations, especially when it comes to female rap," said the New York-raised rhymer. "It’s not like it’s a competition, but people are always comparing and comparing and comparing. It’s almost like they want to see you fail ... I hate the feeling when I don’t do something really good. So I want my sh*t to be good because my last album did so well, and if this one doesn’t do well, I’m going to feel really sad."

Do you agree with Cardi's opinion about the expectations that female rappers face?
